The Save Your Logo Campaign

The Save Your Logo campaign is is a French non-profit organisation which in conjunction with Lacoste and insurance company MAAF aim to protect the biodiversity of the Crocodile. As you will probably be aware the crocodile is the symbol of Lacoste and one of the most popular, instantly recognisable logo's ever made. It originates back to the 1920's when Rene Lacoste was in his prime as a tennis player. Nicknamed the Crocodile due to a bet with his then Davis Cup Capitan Pierre Gillou, Rene bet him a crocodile skin suitcase he would win his match in Boston in 1923. He lost the match however the name stuck and led to him having a small crocodile emblazoned onto his shirt which he would wear every time he played a match.

The Crocodile logo was the first ever put onto a polo shirt making the company and the crocodile famous. Lacoste is now seen as one of the most create brands on the market, mixing the companies rich history with forward thinking design which can be seen in the new catwalk shows currently portraying the Spring/Summer 2011 clothing. The new 'unconventional chic' approach to catwalk fashion replaces the slightly crazy acrobatics of the last few years.
